Aside from the cleaning, it looks pretty nice.

EDIT] I see it's been bid up to $93 on eBay.

Even in low AU grade, these are around $280.

Is it worth $93 to you?

    abused, but worth $90.

Also, looks like a scratch at star 1.

The "burn spots" are toning. Silver reacts with oxygen, sulfur and other chemicals in the air. That changes its color. In a way, it is chemically similar to "burning." It does not (usually) detract from the value of a coin.

The scratch is on the holder Frank.

As to your question Slack - yes that's exactly what it means.

IMO I would save the money to purchase a problem-free example. You can get some VF-XF examples on ebay for less than $90, and some raw XF-AU later date Bust Halves for $150 or less.

Why rush? Capped Bust half dollars are common coins that are readily available in nearly all grades, both raw and certified. Take your time and buy a nice coin you won't regret later.

Listen to Tom B...he knows his stuff. Just looking on ebay, there are thousands of Capped Bust Halves, and all it takes is a little time and patience for you to find one that meets your needs and that you could win with a well-timed bid.
