NGC gave it a 63. The rub near the forehead is not quite as bad in hand as it shows in the pictures, but is probably why I got a good deal on it. Either way, I was happy to get another high end middle date I needed for my date set.

Yea, if you look at the coin with a loupe, no specific wear is apparent, just a slight discoloration of the metal.
Have you posted your 1818 R/B on here? I'd love to see it!

Beautiful coin, Mainebill! You don't often see original mint luster on coins of this age.

Thanks! I had to pay a bit for it but I liked it was mostly red only way it made it this long was I'm sure being part of the Randall hoard i only have one large cent in true red a later( 1853) one in pcgs ms 64 red I like these big pennies in any color though!! My real focus is the early ones but I wanted a couple beauties of the middle and later dates for my type set

You see it on silver but copper hardly ever I'd kill for a draped bust large cent with some red left on it or even more a liberty cap but that ain't gonna happen unless I win the lottery am just drooling over that mervis collection catalog this morning

Stunning coins (as usual). That '72 is to die for -- I love how the high relief design coupled with the toning causes Lincoln's bust to appear almost iridescent!

An iPhone shot of the 1972-s, shot in indirect sunlight in the Safe-Flip, just before sending to PCGS. Talk about a "liquid proof".
