I currently am collecting lowball Kennedy Half Dollars. Please post any if you have them. This is the most worn Kennedy I have ever seen. Definitely a 1964 due to it being solid silver. This is a very nice circulated cameo 1967.
Do you mean before or after it was ground down, tumbled, then used as a pocket piece? definitely not honest circulation wear no matter how you spin it.
I wouldn't call that normal wear on that '64 Kennedy. Coins have to circulate to wear out. There is a slim possibility it was a pocket piece, but it probably went through some post mint destruction when silver was cheap.
Sorry I posted a ground down, tumbled, POS. The thread is asking for more pictures of worn Kennedy half dollars, not a critique of a coin I paid melt for. BTW this coin would be gradable if the date were showing. There were a few pocket piece Kennedy half dollars, as I have 3 PO01 PCGS coins.
Sorry if I offended you, that was not my intent! I guess I have seen waaaay too many modern doctored "low-ball" coins ending up in slabs that could in no way have gotten worn legitimately, not even as pocket pieces. I actually found your piece interesting looking and exceptionally well done, very much mimicking the wear of many a barber coin. It was the reference to being found with a metal detector, which I find rather improbable, that made me "come out" against its authenticity.
I find this funny. The wife and I also keep well worn Kennedy's but nothing like that one. I call them pocket coins. It is part of the race we have and at this time she is winning with one of these..
