I've eased up on my purchasing. I probably spend 50-75 per month on coins on average.

Depends on my disposable income after bills/food each month but I average $50-$200 a month.

My fiance' .... a brick at what I spent this month. Over a grand. Just a hair over though. "You have an addiction to buying coins!"

Depends on what is available, what my funds look like, and what I am in the mood for. This last month was "bad", I probably spent about $3400. Other months I might get by with $100. Its variable.

    I just whipped out Excel:

119 coins purchased in last 6 years:

    Average coin price paid: $30
    Average coins per year: 20
Average coins per month: 1.6 coins
    Average cost per month: $50

But if I only include last 2 years:

    58 coins purchased

    Average coin price paid: $48
    Average coins per year: 29
Average coins per month: 2.4 coins
    Average cost per month: $117

Yeah, my tastes have gotten more expensive.

I must confess to more than $1000 per month.

My response would be a lot like medoraman. I typically have one "big" coin purchase every 6months and then spend very little for the next couple of months. It really just depends on my mood, as well as show/auction schedules.
Now that I have another child on the way, I'll probably have to curtail my expenditures a bit in preparation.

Too much some months and not enough others. Depends what I find at the LCS's. Lately they have not been getting good items in. Just junk silver.

I've purchased a single coin for my collection this year, so the average would heavily be skewed by that one month "splurge".

many people will not answer this question. I have slowed down my buying due to my high debt problem. I used to spend about $100 a month. more on other single coins.

far from rich...more like young and stupid to be spending so foolishly on a 'collectible' although I do receive immense enjoyment out of what I do and can possibly recuperate a large portion of my spent money on what I have collected.

Sounds like what I'm sort of striving for, plus maybe an actual retirement fund somewhere, but tangible assets are certainly a plus.

I wonder if I will see huge spikes in precious metals over the next 40 years of my life?!?!?

PS. I do the self employed thing as well, or as close as I can while the Number 1 is still alive (dad). This is definitely my calling though, couldn't imagine working for anyone else at this point.
