1983 Lincoln cent reverse error?

    I'm not sure what to make of it. The crack looks like it could be an extension of the mark, but since it doesn't seem to be raised, it appears to be a lamination defect on the planchet. That would make it unrelated to the raised area extending from the building to the rim.

    Maybe Mike Diamond will chime in and enlighten us.

    lamination peel die crack but usually die cracks are smaller in thickness, chris you hit it on the head pretty much

    Laminations only appear on pre '82 copper cents. Is it raised? It appears raised to me. Could be a die break, similar to a CUD, that fizzles to a crack as you go toward the center. Not sure.

    The crack, itself, does not look raised which would suggest a lamination defect. Wouldn't it?

    I think it's die chips associated with die crack.

    But since it interacts with the rim it is a cud also, albeit in a strange orientation?
