Has anyone made a comparison between the Grey sheet prices versus Coin World or any other compatible sources regarding coin values ?
IMO, Coin World price values tend to be about 30% higher than the going price of any coins on E-Bay. I am sure there are numerious people who have used the published guides as realistic, but are very disappointed when they don't get the high values quoted.

I check values on world coins often (South Korea, Japan, New Zealand, Guatemala, Iceland, Swaziland, Dahomey, Guinea, Equatorial Guinea) by looking up the current asking prices, and the "sold" prices at ebay. I actually find the prices for many coins to be ALL OVER THE PLACE. The prices can range from "a lot lower" to "a lot higher", for both sold, and asking, prices.

I look at the Greysheet vs Coinfacts/PCGS guide and ebay completed listing regularly. I find very few of the coins that I am looking for trading anywhere around Greysheet. Many don't even trade below PCGS guide. I prefer to use completed auctions and ebay sales.

Coin facts has their usually inflated value but references actual sales under their stated value. They include eBay and other auctions. While some people make remarks about eBay sales being higher then market I kind of think that given the size of eBay and their average of 90000-125000 ngc and pcgs coins that they are the largest coin market. If people think the sales on eBay are that inflated then I would recommend they purchase coins elsewhere and sell for the difference, despite the 13% to eBay.

And that's pretty much exactly what they do. And why they do it.

That depends entirely on where you are looking. And what specific coins it is that you are looking for. But your comment suggests that you are looking in the wrong places.

Mostly I am looking at seated and bust coins. Finding certified better date seated coins at greysheet is near impossible. Finding them at PCGS guide price can be difficult. That is why I prefer to use Coinfacts, because it will show recent auction results from HA, GC, Stacks, Teletrade, Goldberg, and even ebay.
Many of the coins in the quarterly sheets don't seem to be updated as often as the market would suggest they should. JMO

As you well know there is a wide price range for any given coin and the Grey Sheet only list values for coins that are average for the grade. And that includes better dates of the coins you are talking about. But for an Ask to be listed in the Grey Sheet means that there is somebody offering to sell that specific coin at that price on one of the dealer networks. All you have to do is look it up and agree to pay the guy his Ask, and you will get the coin at that price.

But no, it does not mean that you can go to just any dealer or ebay or anyplace else and find that specific coin at that price. You have to go to the one that has the current Ask listed in the Grey Sheet.
