Just found a few of these in a roll. Doesn't seem to take away from the devices ... almost looks triple ...
In my opinion, same thing as before, my friend. I'm not really seeing any notching on the coin in your post, my opinion would remain as MD. But maybe some pros will come along and shed a little more light on it.
I see doubling around the (berity) in Liberty and aroun the (0 ) in the date too & I dont even have on my glasses, definitely noticeable to me. Especially if I can see it without the extra pair of eyes on. Happy coin hunting
no not magically , this is called die detoration. the die was worn out so this is how the coins looks it struck. sometimes die deioration can cause folks to think the coins from the worn out die are doubled die coins because they all look identical from the worn out die.
Just looked again doubling around the the first (2) & the (1) also. And on multi coins you say I think their a keeper
Similar to the many 1957P and 1957-D coins, some dates can be found with near-exact MD. I believe @Rick Stachowski has made a few threads with a coin or two that looks very similar to yours. Edit: here is one thread. http://www.cointalk.com/threads/2012-d-jefferson-nickel-nice-date-error.236427/
This is MD. Specifically it is from a loose, shifting die. When searching original rolls it is very common to find multiple coins from the same die pair and when the die was loose, of course all coins struck with the loose die will exhibit the same die-shift.
Sure. hy not. Well, at least "all" the coins that you have. There are more than likely hundreds of thousands from that die pair that show no MD at all.
Thats exactly what I'm doing Then again I'm just a weird coin collector I keep them all Im new so I just enjoy listening to you pros as you say.
I like your spirit Monica. Here's a link with some great information and photos on how to tell the difference between MD(a term you'll see a lot) and the real deal. http://www.errorvariety.com/OFD/MD.html And welcome aboard Jody
MD, flattened, all shift towards the same direction. I don't see any identifiable evidence of die deterioration.
