It was the same photo, just gamma tweaked and resized down to 640. The paper towel should be bright white, but that is the closest to 'true color' I could get the jpg with my software in this PC. I had to resize the photo because when I tried posting the gamma changed version, this website kept telling me there was a problem and the image wasn't being accepted (unspecified, this happens a lot here, sometimes a dozen attempts are needed over and over, what is that?). So I changed the name, but that didn't work, so I resized it and after only 3 tries the shrunk image went through just fine.

Here is a new photo of the area in question. Again, multiple (identical) upload attempts were needed. <"There was a problem uploading your file." What's up with that? It is very annoying and wastes time too.>

3 Toms here now. 2 of them white. The little (beloved) female in my avtar deceased in July (15 years, but I was really hoping for 18, she was a sweetie).

    @ superc,

I use a Freeware program called PIXresizer to cut my pics down to 600 x 450.
    No problem uploading them.

Not too much goes more than 170 years without at least one cleaning. :)

I don't believe it is a size thing. Sometimes the 4 meg pictures slide in as pretty as you please. Rather it seems to be an EOF handshake issue that emerges a few seconds after the 100% mark is done.

Very true on the cleaning especially on the early stuff I bet about 50% gets details grade because of it on a rare coin I don't mind as long as it's not severe I have a couple that got details for cleaning but their not the slightest bit hairlines just glossy from being dipped I bet if I cracked them out and put them in an album for 20 years they'd tone down nicely and grade clean

A problem I have seen with dipping is that the cleaning solutions keep on working. Even after it is 'washed away.' So what looks all pretty today, in 10 years it has all these micro pitmarks. TG I see that on copper pennies much more often than I do on classic silver coins. Still I have an album of 'cleaned' mercury dimes someone dumb dipped in Tarnex or something similar 30+ years ago. All of them blackened or corroded with half the face eaten off and holes on the reverse where once there was an ax blade.

I believe it I can't even count the number of dumb things I've seen done to coins me I leave em alone and like them untouched
