There is a similar thread in the CoinChat section but this is just for the World & Ancient folks at CT. Let’s discuss which of us is going to each show. I’ll be at the Florida United Numismatics show in Orlando Florida. My friend is going to the New York International Numismatic Conference. Of course, the two shows are scheduled for the same dates (~January 9-12). Which show will you attend?
I might be able to go to the FUN show (I live 3.5 hours south of Orlando), a big maybe though, since Ill mostly likely have no coin spending money by then
If there's an ancient coin-show North of 55, then I'll make every attempt to head South and try to catch it!!
I will hopefully be attending NYINC for at least one day but I'm not sure when yet...and unfortunately will likely not know until the last minute.
I attended the Orlando FUN Show last year and am hoping to attend once again this year if I can get off my leash by then. We'll see.......
Sorry to far East, we have a few coming up around here, Boeing coin show, Long Beach and for Steve we have the Vancouver B.C. Numismatic society money show, April 5th and 6th. i'll meet you there....
Ardy, AJ and JA- I am making every attempt to go to the NY show. I am a 90 min car ride away, but I am thinking of taking the train in solo, seeing as Collect89 is flying south for the winter, how much FUN could that be... I hope to see you guys there....if I can conjure up some cash...and not the bronze Chinese kind...
It's a royal pain to drive in Manhattan, Anoob - believe me, I've done it a few times. Not to mention parking is wildly expensive, like everything else. If I go, I'm taking the train or bus from Philly and packing a good lunch.
Ah yes Boeing. I'm trying to get a ride to at least one of the Washington shows, unfortunately the end is still in doubt.
I would love to go to one of these shows. Maybe someday if I just happen to be in the area at the right time. Or if there is a big show within driving distance but I dont think there are many in North Dakota, or Minnesota
The biggest show in Minnesota is the MOON show, in Brooklyn Center every October. It was pretty sparse this year though, because of the new "sales tax" laws in MN. Maybe 40-50 dealers, lots of empty tables, but I still found a couple coins that made the trip worthwhile. I've heard that the ANA show is great, so the trek over the Chicago area in August is probably your better bet. I'm hoping to make the drive this year...or flight (if they are around $99 like they were last year).
In 2013 FUN was fun (& warm). We went on a cruise to the Western Caribbean & spent several days boating & walking the beaches of Florida's west coast before attending the 2013 FUN. There were many shells & shark teeth found on the beaches. Here are a couple world coin souvenirs from the trip. Hoping 2014 will be FUN as well. Edit: I should have posted this 2 Lire in the recent quadriga thread!
It would be a tough sell to go to Chicago in August. To go to a show I would have to pair it with something and hockey season hasn't started at the point. The Cubs and White Sox aren't worth it.
