Methinks you have misunderstood the purpose of this thread... but what the hell, I like the note anyways!
I was hooked on those '22 $20 GCs for quite a while. Finally picked up a raw CU example and that ended the madness - until I started looking for small size '28 $100s. *Sigh*
BigTee that is a nice $20 Gold Cert., I would like to own one of them but I just can't seem to let loose of the Big Bucks to buy one. I can afford this one though ~ lol
Some of the TPG's have given coins with mirrored fields the proof designation. There is no official record of them ever being produced. It certainly bumps up the price however. It's one of my most favored coins.
I know many are designated as Proof-like. The high grade proofs are really beautiful either regular or toned mirrors. I have a lower grade (questionable) proof specimen, so given this, it is harder to tell based on the looks of the mirrors. Oxidation can sometimes kill the deep mirrors and make them dull. I do see very slight cartwheel in the fields but I'm not sure if that totally disqualified it from being a proof? Curious, might you too have a proof Isabella specimen you could post a picture of? P.S. It looks like I failed to read this post correctly. This is for paper money. Crap! Hope I don't get banned for being careless.
My wife is the bill collector(check my pockets, trust me... she doesn't let me have any!) First thing I was told the day I got married... Happy Wife, Happy Life....
It is in a SEGS holder, so I'd take anything graded by them with a grain of salt.... Redbook states there was 100 proofs struck of the 1892/3 Columbian, but nothing about the Isabella quarter. Try sending this in it's own thread in the "what's it worth" forum. I'm sure someone can help!
I've been gone from this thread for a while, but here's 1 of 2 new acquisitions. The 2nd one is on its way and even better than this. My first educational: 1896 $1 Silver Certificate - XF
Funkee, that beats the heck out of my '96 $1 Educationals. Can't believe how well yours faces up. Even though the better example of mine is a VF, doesn't nearly have the eye appeal.
