which coin looks better?

    I'd send it to another grading service. You might have better results with a little luck.

    Even with the scratch it was graded a 65?

    If you are writing about the lines on the revere then they are very likely adjustment marks and are not considered post-mint damage (scratches). They were produced at the Mint. I wrote about this earlier in the thread.

    So on old coins like this how can you tell the difference between a scratch and an adjustment mark?

    Well I have to admit I'm surprised. I would definitely not pay MS65 money for it. The highest I'd go would be AU58 because I still believe I see wear on the obv but it might just be the pics. In either case, I was wrong and still have a lot of learning to do.
    Anyone have any good articles or info on adjustment marks? I'm doing my own research but would like to be pointed in the right direction. Thanks!
