The Red Book is a wonderful resource that all collectors should own. They are relatively affordable and you need not buy one every year. Heck, the last issue I purchased was in 1994 and I still use it.
I have some that say uncirculated and some that don't in those kinds of slabs Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I don't know much about either. I just heard that CC coins are more rare than the rest. Then I came across these holders with the coin and saying uncirculated. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Because the coin itself is worth 200-300 washingtons (my guess is ms-64 grade, judging by the picture, which is $275 according to pcgs)
What other years of cc Morgan dollars do u have? By the way the pcgs $$$ chart is usually off so check this website to help u out ( when u click on link go to Morgan silver dollar and ms) http://www.ngccoin.com/poplookup/us-coin-price-guide.aspx
Is ngc better than pcgs? As for years of cc Morgans from what I can find is that I am missing one year from our type set book. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Make sure they're legit first. Read here: http://www.ngccoin.com/news/viewarticle.aspx?IDArticle=3526&counterfeit-morgan-dollar-fake
Mine do have certificates of authenticity in the original box with these. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
It all depends on one thing: If you want to keep the Morgans in those GSA holders, then submit to NGC as they will grade still in those holders and place the label on the bottom of the holder. PCGS removes the coin from the GSA holder, and lists on the grading label GSA HOARD. Personally, I would rather keep it in the GSA holder, but that's just my preference. *still getting a kick out of the first post are these anything special*
I too like the GSA holders. They hold a history in themselves. I am new to some of this coin stuff that is why I asked if they were anything special. I have a ton of stuff from the franklin mint and postal commemorative. But that stuff is newer. Most stuff was added to this collection in the 60s 70s and 80s. My father in law was in business with a local coin dealer for a number of years. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I know you're new and I don't mean to laugh. I just wasn't expecting to see a photo of a GSA Morgan in the opening post of a thread titled as this one.
Here's a link with some good information on the GSA Morgans. http://www.gsadollars.com/Home_Page.html
While price guides are good, to get a more accurate value, go to Ebay and just put in "GSA (Insert date) CC Morgan Dollar".
