Obviously I know if the coins are worth anything, but as a whole, is it worth more to keep the pages intact? Does anyone know if the stamps are reproductions? I got like 50 pages of these in a lot I picked up on Craigslist, along with some Norman Rockwell first day issue stamped envelopes(seen those aren't worth much) Anyone know anything about these things? Another question is I got a boat load of these dollar sets as well as nickel and quarter sets that are either gold, platinum, or satin finished. I know the gold and platinum are plated, but could the 2005 satin be from the SMS? Some of the 24kt gold ones have some nice rainbow toning on them, so I know they're not worth much, but they're cool looking! When I say boatload... I mean boatload! I see most of these coins as face value, unless someone here tells me otherwise. Thanks for any help
Stamps are orignal I ill give you Scott numbers when I get home they are all common and worth .30 cents or less !! Sorry basically these are things they sell to the public and non collectors or novice collectors not much value and basically they are junk sorry to say !!
Like Sean said the stamps are real , but are worth basically the price on them , dealers will buy the stamps at a discount and use them for mailing . The coins are face value unless they are some variety or super high grade . If you like to cherry pick , it would be fun to look for known varieties . The Wisconsin state quarter comes to mind with the high and low leaf varieties . Have fun !!!!!
That's what I figured. I thought it was like a Littleton Coin set or something along those lines. Alright, I'll probably just tear the stamps and coins out and throw the pages away then. I'm thinking about giving some of the sets to someone at work whos kids just started collecting coins. They might not be worth much value wise, but I'm sure the kids will love them. That's funny because that's the only thing I was looking for when I was looking through the sets, no high or low leaf though
Probably half the reason someone bought them in the first place was the packaging. Myself, I would resell them as is. It's your stuff so you be the judge. If you got 'em for nuthin' go for it!
That's the one thing that is a pain about buying lots, getting rid of all the junk they contain. Even with a good find every now and then, you still need to recover your expense from the other stuff.
