If a simple typo, I highly doubt it would have been repeated twice. It seems clear that he confused the two, so I felt it only fair to point this out.

    Worthy of repeating.

It's called logical thinking in that the OP states that s/he "buys" coins off of eBay not that s.he "submits" coins for grading and since coins with a numerically assigned grade purchased off of eBay must be "graged by a TPG", it's only logical that the OP "meant" who is your favorite "grading company". Especially since "graders" (i.e. TPG Graders) are not allowed to sell coins while they wpork for a specific grading company. Well, I believe thats true for the integrity of the TOP TPG's but may not be that way with the bottom grading companies.

The post about the teacher was in jest to the original question and meant to be funny (which it was).

I submitted 76 coins to SEGS. The whole process took 30 days to complete from the day I mailed them off at the post office. Since I submitted so many coins to them I will report my personal findings: My opinion is SEGS is a better third-party grader company for U.S. and Canadian coins and varieties. When it came to less commonly submitted foreign coins from places like Guyana, East Africa or Papua New Guinea, I just about am certain they were making mistakes regarding accurate catalog identification and grade (they made a good effort though). When it came to grading U.S. coinage their overall grading leaned towards very conservative. I was shocked at how low they graded many of my U.S. coins. Definitely SEGS is like day and night compared to SGS. It's hard to get a 70 coin returned from SEGS! In fact my highest graded coin(s) I got returned was a 67. In general though I found SEGS undergraded my Flying Eagle Cents, beautifully toned Jefferson and Buffalo Nickels, Peace Dollar and foreign tokens. Accurately graded my Indian Cent, Booker T. Washington Half, Iowa Commemorative Halves, and my San Diego Half. I feel they might have been a bit generous grading my Bay Bridge Halves I submitted (no problem with that) U.S. tokens and just a tad generous many of my silver foreign coins.

I primarily use SEGS for their great quality slabs and the fact you can be a regular "Joe Shmo" like myself and need no affiliations (PNG, ANA, etc.) to submit to them. They also are pretty good in terms of customer service.

I dealt with ICG once too (never slabbed with them though) and I found their customer service, ease of use and friendly staff were outstanding!

I bought coins from SGS too over Ebay directly from the third-party grader. In every case their coins were overgraded. I had to return half of them because they were roughly 5 points overgraded. SGS does have great customer service as well in my limited experience with them.

I wasn't really looking to promote myself but rather inform on my findings. Why not show a nice specimen I got graded and tell the users here where they can view more of my SEGS returns? Regardless though thanks for filling me in about that. I'll keep that in mind for future reference.

I have a love-hate relationship with PCGS. I only submit to them, no one else because I am mainly a seller, and people seem addicted to the holder. The hate part comes in the form of what I see as overly strict grading, where they are sometimes (dare I say often) too critical for their own good. Just my opinion.

I have to admit that SEGS is very conservative in their grading.

They have a web site online if you wish to check 'em out. I won't list it though, not looking to get banned and flagged here a second time.
