I cannot help but be reminded how many times I ignored [these] conditions of coins that I have in my pocket change over the decades. I didn't pay much attention, thinking it was only street damage. It's been most enjoyable seeing these posts. I now see "cracks" everywhere, buildings, sidewalks, paint jobs, faces ...I mean everywhere! Trying to focus my newfound ADHD interest on coins in hand.
This is a split die straddled by what is almost a retained interior die break. Since the sharp border does not completely surround the elevation on the reverse, this is an area that experienced surface cracking and subsurface deformation.
