I am very interested in how you got this to a 62 based off the pictures. While the color of the pictures don't float my boat I bet in had the coin looks like a true 66.

It is his own secret grading that no one else is allowed to know. That helps everyone understand grading - WRONG!

I don't mind saying how I came up with 66.
The obverse has a few hits but only one of any size. Not enough to call it a 65. The luster is good but not great. Not enough for PCGS to call it a 67. Maybe just the image.
The reverse is about the same but the luster is great. The strike looks good. I could see the reverse on a 67 graded coin.
NGC might give this a 67 but I agree with PCGS on the grade.

Most of learned why tpgs grade coins the way they do through study and practice , this thread that has been ongoing for years have taught me and a lot of others a lot . If you'd have come here willing to learn or even to teach we would have accepted you with no problem . But your remark to Duke , BTW one of the better graders hear , was kind of a put down . All you'd have to do is explain why you thought the coin was a 62 . A sarcastic question like you asked usually gets the same in return , but all I've seen was questions as to why you thought that . Also BTW I'm quite far from even being close to rich .

You did not ruin anything. But you seem to be trying to lol

Your first post was to ask me how many grades I added.
Your second post was to state how PCGS is in business to make money (duh, no kidding)

This and the other 589 other GTG's RLM has taken his time to post is a fun contest to help us grade better or at least understand what TPG'ers grade coins at. The only should be productive ones for those intentions.
I also would not say that your comments are "too much truth" lol. As yes TPG'ing companys are here to make money and the grade is subjective we are here to learn what they feel is good for that grade.
As for your lame comment of "i guess some of you think that some truth might (ruin) your rich, spoiled, fantasy world. spoiled crybabies." is not only meant to be insulting but is immature and crass. Many people here are not rich, spoiled and live in a fantasy world. And you seem to be the only "crybaby".

I'm not a mod here but I think this GTG has long-since diverted from its actual purpose. Can't we all just agree that it's a real nice cent and move on. Thank you RLM for this GTG and Happy Thanksgiving all!

    1. how is posting an opinion of the grade of a coin, trying to ruin anything? 2. i mentioned the adding grades comment because i remember you stating in another post that coin buyers should (add at least 2 grades to every coin that they purchase. 3. your comment that the op has posted almost 600 graded coins for opinions only helps to support my comment about pcgs being a bussiness, (think about it, if the op submits almost 600 coins for grading, it would be in the grading services best interest to attach higher grades to those coins.) that way they can figure that he will continue to send in many coins, because he is getting the grades that he wants on the coins. 4. you say that i seem to be the only crybaby on here, however, wasn't it you and some of the others on here who complained many times when i posted comments that did not coddle the most popular opinions? 5. whenever i have posted coins for comments and opinions on cointalk, i did not restrict or try to restrict the comments about the grades and values of the coins, ect. if you only want to hear others say that the coins are MS66, MS67, ect. then that should be stated in the titles and desriptions of the threads. by the way hearing only the grades and values, ect. that you like to hear, is not really learning anything about the coins.

Great, now how about explaining how you come to your grade. By most every standard I have seen a 62 is a below average coin. Please explain why you think this one is below average.

BTW, I have submitted several coins, but not even in the ballpark of 600.

All that aside, could you let us know how you came to the conclusion that the coin grades MS-62?

it was duke and not me who gave the figure of nearly 600 coins in one of his posts on this thread. i just mentioned what he had already stated about the number of coins you posted in the guess the grade threads.

your statement makes no sense. nobody else mentioned an MS62 grade except me.

the strike is not strong enough for an MS66, the coin shows wear on the cheek and shoulder areas, there are too many marks for an MS66 grade, the luster looks dulled and or altered. looks like an MS62, in my opinion.

    That is what we figured.
"the coin shows wear" necessarily means AU or worse.
"the luster looks dulled and or altered" necessarily means genuine, details, or whatever term you use for ungradeable.

BTW, one of the purposes of these threads is to help people learn how to recognize worn coins, altered coins, and other factors that go into grading from pictures. Feel free to participate.

I was just wondering if you compensated for the large pics which tend to show off marks one would never see in hand . I forget what these pics are magnified at , rlm could tell you .
But tpgs don't use loupes at 1st glance and when they do it's never more than 5X probably less .
