I'd say ms 61 or 62 due to the mark on the chin without that a solid ms 64 the cleaning could give it a details too nice coin though

I would say MS64. The TPGs are a little more forgiving when it comes to grading CCs in my opinion. That hit on the face is a bit distracting, but some photos tend to bring out the worse in coins. May not be as bad in hand. Good luck. I want it.

    63. The gouge in the chin is a typical Morgan bag mark--any Morgan collector sees thousands like that. Absolutely no doubt it will grade as MS.

If that's not wear on the hair its a 62 otherwise a 58

C'mon folks. It is a very typical, garden variety MS 63 with lots of bag marks. If it were a 1884o or an 1881s, nobody would have the slightest concern. There are so many like that--experienced Morgan people can recognize a normal, bag marked Morgan that will grade as MS with absolutely no problem, Especially, given that TPGs are kinder to CC dollars--it is sure to grade solidly.

No doubt its a ms either I just think such a prominent mark in the face will hold it back to 61 or 62 I'd probably say 62 cause the fields are otherwise clean I'm perhaps a tougher critic than some of the tpg graders tho

Here is my 92cc. NGC was quite kind to this one--I probably would have graded it far more tough:

They went MS 65, and I think it is probably no better than a 64, but I paid 63 money for it--it was a pretty looking coin.

that's what I thought but there is no matching wear on the reverse so it's probably a strike thing. to many dings on the prime area (face) so I'd go 62

I would NOT be surprised to see a 64 grade on it, although personally, I would grade it as 63. That date just isn't that common as folks think, and nice examples don't grow on trees--that coin has a great strike (not unusual for cc dollars), and has eye appeal. Is it baggy? Sure, but 90% of the Morgans are quite baggy.

Here is the op coin, side by side with my NGC MS 65. They are close, and I have admitted that I think my coin is overgrazed, despite getting a great deal on it at an auction a while ago. They are not far apart--either one could have graded 63 or 64 and NEITHER one is AU for sure. Mine has some light golden toning, which is nice, but the two coins are really pretty similar other than that. a.jpg b.jpg c.jpg d.jpg

62, Strike is very weak for CC and with the gouge I can't say 63. It could come back 63, but I don't think it would CAC.

I readily agree your coin is over-graded and a 63 IMO. But to say your coin and the OP coin are close ? Sorry, but I just don't see it. Yes, your coin is baggy, and the OP coin is baggy. But the OP coin has that huge gouge in the chin and the two long scratches that run from the mouth almost to the ear. Your coin has nothing remotely close.

Either one of those two defects should be enough by itself to keep the coin from being graded. Combined ? It's not even a question in my eyes. But, that's just my opinion, based on traditional grading standards.
