The laser cameo is just worse than the old way, its not smooth.. I really don't like it.... I am totally into modern commems though but am more of a unc. guy...
I think the best illustration of the laser effect on commemorative coins is the Hawaii Volcanoes National Park "puck." The lava has a "starry" or "sparkley" effect on the numismatic version.
Some of my favorites - mainly because of the reverse. I like the SF old mint the best, but it's at PCGS right now...
Don't have pics of most of mine. One of my fav moderns is the Leif Ericson proof! I only have 2 of these in OGP, but I want one slabbed!
The Leif Ericson is one of the best moderns, IMHO. Low mintage - go figure. Some of the lamer designs have much higher mintages. Oh well...
LMAO yes! I don't have any pics of my Leif Ericson MS coin AND I only have around 4 pics of my commems. I didn't want to duplicate either.
It's not important if nobody wants to collect the coin or the series. Look at the Booker T. Washington commemorative run. In 5 of the 6 years that the coin was minted there were production numbers varying between 6-8 thousand pieces yet all of these are affordable. Why? 'Cause nobody wants them.
I have an NGC MS70 Leif Ericson as well and also have the Swedish partner to it though it's not slabbed (yet).
