With damaged coins, there aren't generally good estimates of value. I recently made a similar post and people were telling me my item was worth melt, or that they wouldn't have even paid melt. That being said, ebay is the best place for damaged coins. The market is so big that there are people who will fight over damaged coins to save a buck. I sold my item for much more than people said it was worth here. I even asked store owner's and they said the same thing people here did: melt value. The fact is, it's worth what someone will pay, so ebay is the only way to know what its value is on the market. Otherwise it's worth what it is worth to you.
Also, that's one of the most common dates for seated liberty quarters. That doesn't help, unfortunately
That's about what you would expect from eBay... double melt, even on the most damaged of coins. A "damaged coin" seller's paradise, where true value takes a vacation and you will almost always realize much more than the coin is worth. That's the beauty of having an LCS nearby that offers their silver dreck for melt or just slightly over... I've yet to buy a damaged coin from them that didn't sell for considerably more on the 'Bay.
That's the way to do it I can't believe how many LCS don't ebay/craigslist stuff. The old timers don't like computers and miss out on the biggest pool of buyers in the world, the internet!
