I found this coin a long while back along with my grandfather's old things. I thought it was a pretty sweet find, however I noticed that someone had inscribed their initials into the observe side of the coin.... Does anyone know how much this will decrease the value? i would say value on the coin is most likely around melt because the damage to the coin is pretty large !!
Yeah even if it was in AU condition minus the damage i dont think you would get much over 200 dollars !!
On Ebay they are calling those 'love dollars.' Price is low. Nothing destroys a coin more than a mark.
This is not what would be considered a Love token. This would be more likely considered damage or graffiti.
I just sold one that was ex-jewelry. The obverse was nice, XF to AU but the reverse had a small blob of solder at 12 o'clock. It sold for $120.
I also had one with heavy scratches on the back. The face was nice, maybe AU-58. It sold for $90 when gold was a bit higher.
