    1972 P CN Obverse

    New Coin: IDDDO-2 72 P BS P WD-B IDDD-MHR-3 IDDP-1B.

    Cross Reference: Ncadd Wexler WWHO-001.

Attributed by: IDDD Thomas Kalantzis, John Wexler.

    Class: Master Die/Master Hub.

    Reporter:

Description: Working hub DDO, Doubling seen as split serifs on most letters of IN GOD WE TRUST, first one in date shows a split serif under the upper left, both the 7 and 2 in date have the same deep open serif, on the 7 it looks like fingers pointing downward, on the 2 to the right of the hit on the tip at the end of the curl, CCW spread seen on L and I of liberty both have a split serif on the top left.

Reverse Description: Master hub DDR, Stars doubled lightly strongest on the left side, doubling seen on most letters of United, also on the RI in America, the 11th star shows signs of tripling, FG, Tripling seen on E of one, doubling seen on NE of one, AR in dollar.

Marker: Obverse Full leg R of liberty, Stage A has no clash, Stage B clashed die in the eye socket still evident, stage B also shows die abrasion to remove evidence of the clashing of the dies. marker seen on the back of the head in-line with the ear. Reverse marker for this working die comes directly from a master hub, this hub is recognized as 1972 P with the Type 3 reverse, a die break in the shape of a dot seen on the right side marker area ( Die break marker also seen on 1974 D reverse ) also rough surface just behind the dot, I have seen this marker change slightly from working die to working die do to die stage and die abrasion.

Ah, your first post made it sound like the coin you posted was submitted and attributed by Wexler, and this was the result.

Best of luck sending it to Potter.

why so many photos ? Rick coins that show doubling from a master die don't have much value at all above face value because they are so common.

anyone can price something for a million or more but this does not mean it will be worth anything IMO .

I have no idea where they are coming up with those prices.

Neither do I since an MS66 1972 Type 3 coin is worth a heckuva lot more than between $660 and $730.

BTW, that "Price Guide" is NOT from the IKE Group but from Tom Kalantzis's IKEDOUBLEDDIE Web page.
