The high point of a die is the low point of a struck coin. If the high point of the die breaks off, the coin shows high spots where they normally wouldn't be, such as on your coin.
Some of the GA SQ dies must have been plagued with weakness. I've seen many different examples of die cracks, chips, etc. In one case, a 99-P Mint bag I had produced 3 dozen coins with 7 different die cracks which formed a 6-coin progression. I knew that these coins all came from the same dies because of a die dent (or chip) in the middle of George's neck and a specific die crack on the reverse that was common to all of them. Chris
Chris about all state quarter dies had this problem , I have rolls and rolls of coins from the same die with one form or the other of die damage. I'm thinking of selling them on Ebay by the full roll if anyone wants them when I get in better health.
