couldnt get any halves today :( i went to a new bank, the teller said she would save me any halves or large dollars that get deposited, and that they usually have a few on the weekends

I wish I had a teller that would offer to save halves for me. Consider yourself lucky! ;-)

Box of Nickels: 29 pre1960, nothing special

Box of Halves: Skunk on silver but found 4 proofs (1981S, 1982S, 2003S, 2007S)

The bank manager at my pick-up bank wants me to continue to order boxes but senior management said no. He said he is trying to determine what the additional fee is that they are being charged but not getting a straight answer. I have six more boxes to go through that they ordered this week but additional orders have been suspended. :(

I thought the "s" mint was 90% silver

There made 90% silver proofs and regular proofs from 1992-present but I only found the non-silver proofs.

Only way to tell if those S Mint halves are silver is to look at the edges?

Pretty much. I assume they weight different than the clads but the easiest way to tell is to look at the edge.
    Edit-
    Clad Half - 11.34 grams
    40% Half - 11.5 grams
    90% Half - 12.5 grams

    Got those numbers from coinflation.com

Yesterday I went to the bank and got $9 in half dollar from the tellers tray and I got 1 40%, 1 90% and a 1986 Ellis Island proof! I now always ask the teller for all their halves.
