    TypicalCreepahx Hello There! ( ͡⚆ ͜ʖ ͡⚆)

Just received my coins today, traded him 3 ASE's and a few extras for these 3 slabbed coins and 2 peace dollars. How'd I do?

    Hmm...

Were the Peace $s in reasonable shape? Otherwise, I think you lost out slightly... maybe the "extras." Then again, I'm a bit against buying slabbed proofs of this year's clad set. :p

The peace dollars were about ms63 grade, are the pictures showing up for you?

those aren't MS 63 coins and they would probably only grade as details

The photos, while not the best, do show up fine. Now, not to be the bearer of bad news, but if talking about the two shown in the first post, I am sorry, TC. Neither are even close to this grade, and both appear to be problem coins.

Nickel in 70 would be $10, Half at $15 on a good day, Dime in 70 would be $10, and $27 per Peace.
I value them at $89, so it sounds like a fair trade....depending on the "extras" :)

Haha it's fine, you live and learn. What would you value the 2 coins at each ? The extras was just a canadian 80% silver quarter and a 2009 D nickel

    Here was my "thinking"
I valued each peace dollar the same as an eagle
And the 3 slabbed coins as an eagle

And the extras were just to make up for the fact the eagles were scratched

A $1o+ real world premium on common problem Peace dollars is a tad generous to say the least.

What would make these peace dollars get a details grade?

I closed the photos, am walking out the door, and am going from memory, but start with closely examining the obverses. If I remember correctly, the one had clearly visible strong hairlines and a severe gouge, while the other was harder to see, but had similar issues. If you want to post better photos (preferably outside of the flips if it's a done deal), I'll take a look at them tomorrow.

But whether or not people will pay $27 is the question.

Obviously the op isn't "Vette", with a large customer base and top exposure...followed by fleabay & paypig fees, but I still stand by my assessment. The 24 is worth less, but I averaged.

With all due respect, an example of fools overbidding from a known ebay dreck peddler does not make the coin worth that much, just as I've no doubt that somewhere and to someone, even the OP could pull $27 or possibly more, but this depends on what lengths he willing to go to make that extra buck. However, if he were to offer the two coins for sale on this board, without making claims and only providing clear and quality images, do you really think he will be loaded with offers to buy at $10+ over melt?

We must accept the fact that ebay is a different ballgame, and many of such coins end up offered there for very good reason. The coin linked would, in most real world cases, be thrown into the junk pile and/or be sold at no more than the common "silver dollar" premium, but since ebayland is a honeyhole of "bidiots" willing to accept claims such as this seller's ridiculous and laughable "uncirculated" as fact, opportunity awaits. When the time comes for whoever buys this coin to sell, they are likely in for a rude awakening, unless it is to another fool of course.

While he has not divulged this information, I cannot help but to think that the OP was likely mislead by his trading partner into believing the coins were something they are clearly not. Please understand that I am not trying to argue the substance of your opinion, but do I believe it would be wise for the OP to understand the difference between could be and is, especially if he plans on involving himself in future trades.

Well on the two piece dollars I think they are cleaned. The first was harder to see, but you see strong hairlines on both. As for how you did on the trade - I can't really say until you sell. So if the 3 eagles were 22*3 or 66 dollars and 6 dollars for the silver quarter then a total of around 72 dollars. Now if the 3 70 coins are as mentioned a total of $35, plus $33 melt value of peace dollars makes $68. So roughly the same in trade - assuming the peace dollars are cleaned and only worth melt. Just my swag and my opinion.

Agreed on all points .....It's more than important to understand what damage & cleaning look like, it is imperative. There are far too many unscrupulous dealers who are more than happy to separate people from their wallets & bidiots that allow it. Education is the key, and while I personally think Creepahx did ok, there would be no learning if everyone stayed quiet about the flaws and just said "ya did ok". :)
I'd still like to see a few more pics! Not that they'd matter much since it's been established these coins would get a details grade, but I can't tell if the light is exaggerating the luster or the scratches.

Ok so I will be taking pictures tonight, but here is what I paid.

    3 American eagles I bought for 76.50
    1 silver quarter 3.00
And the other 2 extras ( a holed buffalo and a 2009 D nickel ) I got for face value so I paid about 80'dollars for the coins I traded him,

I don't have any extra dollar coin flips or any thing to store them in so they'll still be in their holders when i take pictures until I can find something to store them in :)
