I have several 1944 M Un Peso coins and was looking at a couple of them recently. To my surprise, the edge printing on the two I was looking at is reversed. What I mean is if you are looking at the edge with the cap and ray and date on the top, the inscription "INDEPENCIA Y LIBERTAD" is upright and on another it is upside down!! What is going on? Is this common, do I have some fakes?

could be normal, US dollars are same way, edge lettering is a separate process and the coins get tumbled before getting there..

I don't have two of these from the same year (or any from 1944), but FWIW the ones I do have are not all oriented the same.
