Not always true some will fit nicely, but the majority you have to create a shim for. I use old airtite rings. Shave a little piece off (some cases a big piece) - put it in and then add the coin. Works pretty good for most of them.

Looks like a S-255. Definitely Sheldon's Reverse K and the best match for Obverse 9. But the HWH and JHF look a bit further right than I would expect. Perhaps it is an illusion.

Nice pick-ups Mainebill. Good to see the thread endures. A new 1794.....not my usual forte, but I'm lovin' more and more - dang- and may abandon my '98s. 1794s the essence of Large Cent collecting! This one has resided with the former owner for 60 years! High fives to guessing the variety and die state. Any guess why this reverse is referred to the "office boy reverse"? Not too difficult though with the die crack of the latest state.........right Marshall ;)

Beautiful coins...unfortunately my Large Cent collection has dwindled recently due to trading away and selling...I should probably get some more.

Right. This is similar to the Holmes example, but without the clip. It's a VERY nice example. Lovely surfaces.

I decided to get back to my copper roots. I've got a Draped Bust coming in the mail that I'm looking forward to posting. :) Old copper is so cool.

  15. I really admire copper coin ,because copper coins always had a harder time than silver back then . I guess people really didn't care about the low denomination coins.

New Coin picked up at a coin show today. I won the hourly drawing so I got a gift certificate for $10. Picked this coin up cheap for my $20 large cent collection.

Nice little new one arrived. I believe an N-7 based off the spacing of the date, not 100% sure at this point. Cracked out and added to the album.

DCAM0057.JPG DCAM0054.JPG I added this late date cent to my collection recently. Tried to attribute it by looking at the Holmes pictures, but no success.
Would anybody know what variety it is?

I believe you are correct. Under a glass it sure looks like the leaf markers are a little more left. The pictures in the case are actually easier to catch it. Must have spend 30 minutes on N-7,8,9 trying to get everything lined up.

This is the only one I own. 1820 Coronet Large Date (N-13), I believe. I have to say, though, I would love to own some others!
