I have got to know what coin (Steves) that bovine with the human head is...both what type of coin and what type of creature. And how much it would cost to own.
I will let steve6X tell you all the details about his really cool coin. You can Google "man headed bull" and coins from Gela Sicily. There are some really nice examples and yes, they are often pricey. Here is one link: http://www.wildwinds.com/coins/greece/sicily/gela/t.html BTW, The man-headed bull is a river god like thing. It is found on some pricey coins from different ancient cities. Steve6x can tell you where his coin was made. It may not be from the city Gela in Sicily.
Some scary depictions on some of these coins! But steve's man-headed bovine tops them all. That one is weird. I don't have any scary coins - but Mat did comment that he found this sestertius that I once posted showing children's heads atop cornucopiae a bit spooky. showing children's heads atop cornucopiae a bit freaky.
The witch depicted on the 1793 USA cent is spooky. Unfortunately, I don't own one to post. If you are not familiar with the coin, Google "1793 cent".
