Hi fellow members, Need your help regarding the authenticity of a 1795 bust dollar coin. Pictures are attached herewith. All comments and feedback will be highly appreciated.
It took me less than 30-seconds to find the images for this coin on CoinFacts. I doubt you own this coin.
I was going to say -- wow. Seems authentic but too good to be true. Even in a wholesale environment that would be more than a $30K coin.
No way that's yours, dude, but nice try. Next time you want to troll, use a coin that an average joe could actually afford.
I wonder if that would ever work. Logically a great idea, legally I don't know. I would like to say I own half a percent of that coin though haha Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Yes it will work and it has been done before back in the late 80's. Limited partnerships were set up with investors each owning shares in the partnership. The money was used to buy investment portfolios of coins. Later when the portfolios were liquidated each partner received his proceeds based on his shares. In most cases the investors lost money.
So it wouldn't work financially haha thanks for the info though. It's something I didn't know so I appreciate it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
My great, great, great, great, great, great, uncle George gave that to his wife Martha who passed it down to my great, great, great, great, niece, who gave it to my wife's great, great, great, great, uncle who gave it to his son who passed it on to my wife who gave it to me. Why are you posting photos of my coin?????
What was the point of posting this? To highlight you are poor? Or to make his offer seem ridiculous, even though it is tongue in cheek anyway? $2500 might be more than you ever have, but plenty of people have that much disposable income at any one time. My guess is you were as usual just being grouchy but if you'd like to clarify that's fine.
i could ask a similar question, what is the point of all of the numerous postings on cointalk that only highlight how rich the posters are? i guess that is okay. but if someone mentions not having a lot of money, then nobody likes to hear that. i don't need your permission to post comments. if you think that spending half a million dollars on one coin is reasonable, then you are crazy. your bragging about how plenty of people have thousands of dollars to throw around is disgusting. i guess you never had any lack of money? by the way, the username (lord geoff) sounds rather queer, and very arrogant. people that think like you are the reason that everything is so expensive. not everyone is rich, and not everyone can afford to spend thousands of dollars on any whim at any given time.
I think the whole "If we only pitch in $2,500 each we can afford it" was just a joke and was not a serious proposition.
