Learn how to use your phone to record video. Turn it so it is horizontal, you'll get some much more pleasing results.
Use a magnet… that’s it? No offense, but based on the title, you not only failed to deliver, but are giving a false sense of security to anyone who watches and does not know better.
Yes, but not much more with the camera shake and background noise (particularly bad in the first video). A focus on quality (including content) with editing when necessary will make a great difference.
I agree... a very large percentage of fakes today are non-magnetic. Also, you should get your facts straight... most stainless steel is also non-magnetic, and rarely (if ever) used in production of counterfeits.
what do I need to do to make sure I buy a genuine magnet and not some knock off...this gets so confusing....
He's not serious. But I would like to emphasize the point that the "magnet test", whether it be just a plain old magnet or the "slide" test is, is well known in the numismatic community for its ineffectiveness. Many of the higher quality Chinese fakes are struck on 90% silver planchets, so testing for silver, weight, ring, etc., means nothing. Oh, it might weed out a few of the lower quality "coins" found at flea markets and such... but the real determination comes from ones knowledge of what a genuine coin looks like in hand, compared to what a fake looks like. And most "scams" today are perpetrated through electronic media, where tests are a nonentity.
