Newbie on board! Question re: funky edges on 1977-D lincoln penny

    I have several coins like this, and am wondering what causes it? Pics are a little blurry, but the edges are the issue right now. Also, being a newbie... how can I tell what is an error and what is just typical wear and tear? Thanks much. Beware... this is but the first of many, many potentially annoying questions!

    Your coin was damaged.
