I am just gonna go ahead disagree completely with that grade of AU. I think it is at least a MS63.

Been waiting for this to arrive along with another coin. Its an upgrade to my other of this type. Its got better surfaces and reverse strike.

What looks like crust is actually darker toning. It tends to compete with another coin as far as toning goes. Much nicer in hand & couldnt be happier.

I have been on a Morgan dollar VAM kick recently as well ...

1884-CC VAM-4 'Spiked Date' Morgan MS65 PCGS OGH

A tiny "spike" of metal protrudes from the top flag of the 1 in the date, and on many examples (this is the second one I have owned) an extra bit of metal protrudes from the outside lower-left loop of the first 8. That extra bit connects to a wispy die crack running through the bottom of the date digits ... The CC mintmark also appears to be slightly doubled on the reverse (inside of the first C).

    Enjoy!

    Best Regards, :)

Larger than life! A book too big to scan!!

This 10 by 12-inch coffee table book is a perfect holiday present for your non-numismatic friends. If they want to know why you are mired in the sin of "philargyrion" (love of money - Timothy 6:10), this might explain it.

Bressett has encapsulated the history of "Biblical" coins within a lavish array of photographs and other art.

If any book can make someone a "believer" (in numismatics), this is a good candidate, spanning the centuries to deliver the historical context for artifacts we pursue and collect from the first YEHUD coins to the Crusader states.
