I got this coin and was told it was an s mint mark, What do you think? And I would say the coin the coin looks cleaned? Help me out here thanks
Just as a note, a coin will wear relatively evenly, though the highest points on a coin are generally the first to wear down. A coin in that condition, with normal wear, would still have an incredibly bold mintmark.
No "S" , listen to no_cents , a coin wears pretty evenly . Think of it , why would a small area like the MM , that's in a protected area wear faster than any other area .
Just had to make sure . it was just five bucks, And thats was all I was willing to pay when I could not see the s with my loop..Thanks Yall, I got some coins from a friend to day in the mail dating All the way back to 1845 some old some in th 1950s Got to do some looking.
Remember Spock's 'S', 'S' less thread? I think not. You kids are too young. It was bloody hilarious..........
thanks, I was not sure when they started the s mint mark. I have been saving coins for the past few years , maybe 330$ each few weeks i spend in coins, I am thinking about selling them all and starting over , But not sure if the times right, maybe I should wait another six mos, or so.. or the next ten years any advice ? I am not in the point that I have to sell, But don't know if i will get what i have in coins back... Hummm
Welcome to the reality faced by most collectors. It is often best to eat the loss sooner rather than later, but much will depend on exactly what you have.
Truth I think I have alots of small dollar coins,No gold, some silver, and Lots and Lots of error cents, that's been Most of my collection, strike throws, d/d,d/s sss, DDO,DDR. And so On. To many to take thie time and make a list, Made a list about 3 mos ago, But I have sold and sent some to a friend, some out to be graded, Been like 6-8 weeks now with some silver certificates, Thought about just putting it all in a piles and auction it all off.
I remember that thread well , but it would be hard to find especially since Peter changed programs . But maybe Ken can find it I couldn't .
