Not a clue. Part of me says its real and part of me says no. If its real...I wouldnt pay no more then $20 for it.
I just checked the fakes for this type and it doesnt match the known fakes so its most likely real just in wretched condition. $20 is most I would spend. Dont worry though I wont touch this thing.
I know I am too late to help with the auction, but this coin "looks" right to me and at that price how can you go too wrong?
83-84 BC ... yup, it's silver => AR Denarius (the ol' AR meaning silver) ... too bad you got sniped (that was certainly a decent coin for $20-$40)
