Here's a tough one that was recently added to my collection. It's an F-101 Variety.

    Just got these in the mail (1803 100/000 S-249) and (1806 S-270)
The pictures are not the best, but both grade cleanly and look great in hand.

Sorry...these pictures are enormous. For some reason they wouldn't shrink for me.

That mint mark location looks odd. I though it typically went under the wreath.

I had some eBay bucks this month that i had to spend so I was scrolling through the listings when i spotted this coin here. I bought it and went to the PCGS coinfacts just to see what it was worth and oddly enough it was the plate coin......

Mint mark placement did vary. In the early years (40's - 60's) the mint marks were in the wreath. Later, the mint marks moved below the wreath.

I love ebay bucks. I had to work a deal with mine to minimize my cost on a coin that i needed for my type set.

I was looking for a proof ASE in one of those old white ANACS holders and found one listed for $70. I emailed the guy and asked if he could do better, he said $65, i told him i wasnt comfortable paying that for it, but would go $60 if he could. Coin is only worth maybe $45 so i still over paid, but with my ebay bucks it brought it down to $26.42 or something close to that for my out of pocket expense.

Needless to say I was much more pleased going this route. Proof ASE for $26.42, i can live with that

The seller had a make an offer selection, but I actually chose the buy it now option because it was listed for less than you could have payed just to get the coin graded let alone the truview.

I almost ALWAYS make an offer either by the button or just a simple private message. Its pretty much like an industry standard to 'haggle' over price so I always open that door. Its not that I have anything against the prices most of the time, I just like to lower my overall collection cost as much as I can. I am almost certain I have invested less than half of the value of my overall collection. Between gifts from my grandfather and always trying to save a buck, ive been very fortunate with my collecting. However that doesnt mean I wont pay full guide price or even over that for a coin, but again thats why i try to average my costs lower as much as I can, so that coin I overpay on here and there doesnt hurt me as bad in the long run.

At coin club today, I promised myself I'm not going to buy any coins. This isn't a coin though. Picked it up for five bucks, looks like it hasn't been handled!

I thought you'd appreciate it, Frank. It is now my oldest redbook. I've got older bluebooks, but those just don't speak to me as much.

Here's the latest addition to my Franklin half collection. A brilliant 1960. NGC 65 FBL!
Got this for what I believe to be an absolute bargain considering how though it is to find this date in this condition with full bell lines.
