    Hi everyone.

Got these 2 coins here....the first looks like an ancient coin but would like to know if it's really ancient or just a copy.

And the second one is a dollar size Chinese coin I believe? Could you help identify these 2 and post your thoughts if these are real or just copies?

    Thanks a lot

First has all of the hallmarks of a cast. I believe its a copy of a roman republican with a moneyer of Macer. The second looks like a chinese charm, probably of modern manufacture.

As Chris said, the first one looks like a cast reproduction of an RR. But the second looks very modern, and probably wasn't made to deceive. It's some sort of charm or token.

I agree. The first coin is a copy of:
Roman Republic, C. Licinius L. f. Macer (84 B.C.), Silver Denarius, 3.87g., 20mm, Rome mint, diademed and draped bust of Apollo Vejovis left, seen from behind, hurling thunderbolt, rev., C. LICINIVS. L. F / MACER in exergue, Minerva driving galloping quadriga right, brandishing spear and shield, (Crawford 354/1; Sydenham 732; Licinia 16)

If you can't find it under China, look under Vietnamese. I did some research last week on some coins and the Vietnamese have some square holed coins. Though it had 4 symbols on front and 2 on the back.

The Chinese "coin" is a actually a modern Chinese charm.

The inscription (first image) is shou bi nan shan (壽比南山) which translates as "Longevity as great as the South Mountain". Between the Chinese characters are four peaches. The peach is a symbol for longevity.

The inscription on the reverse side is fu ru dong hai (福如東海) which translates as "Fortune as vast as the East Sea". Between the Chinese characters are four flying bats. The bat is a symbol of good fortune.
