non cents, wow. That is a great answer. I always considered those die cracks. LOL. What causes them a crack in the die I assume? or is it caused after the pressing? If there is a difference between die cracks and linear plating bubbles how can it be defined? Thanks
Linear plating bubbles only occur on post-1982 cents, as they are comprised of 97.5% zinc with a 2.5% copper plating. Sometimes impurities are trapped in the plating, and release gasses during/after the strike, causing bubbles to form in the plating. They are different than die cracks, which are cracks that form on the die.
