That sure is a beauty, Randy - you've posted it before, but I love seeing it again. On another note, does anyone have good examples of the forward-facing Honorious types? I've wanted to collect one of those, but never found a specimen that wowed me. Or do we have to settle for poorly-struck, poorly-preserved pieces in this type?
Ooopsie => eh-heh-heh => well, randygeki definitely gets an assist for my next example (sadly, I thought that Hicetas was a "place" not a person ... my bad ... but thanks Randy!!) SICILY. Here's one that is mine, although likely just temporarily and I don't even have it in hand. I bought it recently and am offering it as one of several prizes in a contest I'm running on another site. SICILY, Syracuse c. 287-278 BC AE23, 10.76 g Reign of Hiketas Obv: Zeus Hellanios left (beardless) Rev: eagle left on thunderbolt Ref: Sear Greek 1209, Morcom 782.
"Guess the Hammer, Ancient Edition" Two rounds, six coins per round. First round had coins from the CNG 9/18 auction and Round 2 has coins from the 9/25 Heritage auction. 3 prizes/winners. Score calculated by the average percent 'miss', lowest score wins. I didn't run it here on CT because a recent attempt by someone else to hold a similar contest got the ax.
Yah, that was too bad ... I showed interest in IOM's valiant attempt to start er' up!! Oh well => you and your game sound like a lot o' fun!! Have a nice weekend (it is my wife's B-day today, so once she wakes-up I'm gonna try to spend a little less time coinin' and a lot more time spoiling her!!) ... she is a dozen years younger than me, so perhaps I should go do a few stretching exercises before the day's events!! (slave for the day could involve anything!!)
