I assume that these two oddities are not coins in the currency sense.
The one with the little tag on has the usual inscription of a USA One Cent but a funny looking eagle. The reverse has the Indian Head, 1923 and the word 'Germany'.
The one without the tag is similar but has a very odd 'script' in place of 'United States of America'.
They are about the size of a 1c coin.
Somewhere at the back of my memory is a vague recollection of a German mint that produced some odd and weird tokens/play money etc so possibly that one ?

Any ideas would be appreciated as to what these two are or are trying to be !! ?

    Cheers and thanks

I've never seen this before, but it's worth noting that US forces were involved in the occupation of Germany after World War I, from 1918 until 1923. The date on this piece is 1923. I have no proof, but I'd wager this is related in some way to the occupation forces.

Looks to me like it was made as jewelry. That connection for a chain looks from the photos like an original part of the item, not something added later, and the other looks like a tab might have been cut off.

Hmm, that occupation or allied control lasted longer, but I don't think these medallions have anything to do with it. As Hiddendragon wrote, probably some kind of jewellery; without the hanger I would have guessed it was play money ...
