This thread is falling too far behind. Some nice coins and anecdotes posted. I love the '98s but have a soft spot for a few of the Middles and Lates too. Here's my favorite and only Middle Date in my personal collection. Not the rarest Middle, but generally considered one of the most desirable. The 1818 N4. This is the latest die state and the dies are totally failing. Incredible obverse sinking of the die, cracks, chips and "flaking" giving the appearance of a moonscape around the portrait and obliterating much of the detail in the face. The obverse die sinking causing the O in ONE on the reverse to not strike-up.

Nice twist on the copper MaineBill. I love the Mass cents and half cents and Fugios.

The Randall hoard varieties were plentiful in number and included 1817, 1818, 1819, 1820 varieties. The 1818 N10 is the one variety of the year known in quanity and found in the Randalll Hoard. The 1818 N4 is extremely scarce and probably so because the dies were removed from service early on due to failure. The early die state that does not exhibit the die sinking and is quite scarce for the variety.

Picked these up at a coin show. Ended up selling an extra penny book as part of a trade deal. I am super happy.

Phones survived 2.5 years of being in a woodworking shop and on construction jobs and demolition jobs on 200+ year old houses not an easy life for phone or owner

Found some more. I like the idea of collecting a set for under $25 a coin. Getting the best I can.

Doing a good job that 52 is kinda cool being so worn yet problem free would be a great one for a lowball type set too

For $7 i am happy. Been sitting in the case for months so i figured why not. So far i have only spent $35 on one but it is in xf so its worth it.
