Doug (or anybody in the know) => ummm, I heard that it is difficult to obtain this coin in "good/great" condition ... curious, is my coin in "good/great" condition?

... it seemed to be better than most of the other coins that I researched

    thanks

My grading scale for facing busts is based on features lost and features boldly shown. Your coin has both eyes but weakly indicated here and there. A great coin would have a nose without a flat spot on the end. An ordinary specimen will have a blank disk for a face. These coins are not easily found with all parts really clear. Of course the face is not everything so a really great coin would also show the obverse legend Emmanuel around the edge. Finally, these are often seen with double striking which garbles even the bold reverse letters so a great coin will not have doubling. You have very little doubling but the IC at obverse left is repeated further left. All considered, I'd call your coin good but not great. I do not have a great coin to show but my two demonstrate most of the mentioned faults. The hardest one to find strong is the nose.

My coin (the OP) was $130 ... one less zero than your number (I got it at the last CNG auction)

=> the coin that you posted is awesome!! (not sure it is worth x 10 of mine ... but maybe it is, considering that these coins are very hard to find in great shape?)

Oh, and thanks for the critique => occasionally, I wish you'd merely say "hey stevex6, cool coin!!"

    ... just joking ...

=> Doug, I can always rely that if you post, you'll give me an honest and informative write-up (thanks again)

    :)

I think you mean Xrist Steve. My name in greek is Xristofer.

I like the series. I have all anonymous bronzes from A1 to L. I do not really consider M and N part of the series, (plus they are horribly expensive). My favorite has to be Class I, there are hundreds of different reverse styles on those. I just have a handful. F and J are the tough ones to find, especially F in decent shape. Mine is VG at best.
