Anyone have any clue what's going on with this lady. She's beautiful, but it looks like someone punched her in the Face. Wish I could get my hands on the guy, though I'm guessing he's long dead. But I don't know, which is why I'm asking for your help...

Thanks Books. Appreciate it. One of my favorite bands by the way (The Clash). "...Look at all the money you got.." - Clash City Rockers from their first album. I don't think they were talking about coin collecting though.

You're welcome. There are a few significant clashes for 1888, so you may want to spend a little quality time on VAMworld. Without knowing the mint and straight on quality images, there is not much more I can do to help you. Good luck.

Thanks again Books. I'll try to get a better picture of it. There is no mintmark.

I know, She has a beautiful patina... Maybe it was the dull 1891 next to her. I'm going to separate the two immediately!

Okay, Hopefully this is a better picture, and if you zoom in it looks a heck of a lot like the clash shown in the pic bottom right on VAMWorld http://www.vamworld.com/clashed+dies. Do you agree? Thanks again.

Quite similar, yes, but the best place for us to start is with the mint. I could probably come up with a likely candidate without, but this little tidbit would make it much easier; as would a (quality, straight on) reverse photo. ;)

Books, These are the best reverse photos I could come up with. I know, I'm probably just frustrating you. And I'm sorry about that. My camera's just not that good with macro. If these are unacceptable I'm sure I can get one that's better if I borrow a better camera. Thanks so much again for your help.

Taylor do you have a copy stand , or even a cheap tripod . They helped my pics immensely as did good lighting .

RZ, Yeah, actually have a mini tripod I found while scrapping. I didn't even think of that for some reason. I guess partly because I couldn't think of a way to make the coin stand up straight without the possibility of damaging it. I will look up "copy stand". Thanks so much for the advice. At my studio I have 5 work-lights that point at a grey background for taking pictures of my art pieces, but I'm kind of lost with macro.

    Thanks again,
    Taylor
