My local dealer let me buy into his wheat cent buy again so have a nice 10lbs (about 1500) mixed wheats coming out 3 100lb kegs for a whopping $50. Supposedly they are just that storage kegs of pennies with the date on the kegs being 1955. Another friend of mine (also a friend of the dealer) is buying 50lbs/half a keg. Wish I had a bit more to throw at the gamble but I think it beats the heck outta buying rolls at shows/ebay. Got some good ones outta the last batch I bought into (specificly my 1931 s) will let you guys know how it goes, kegs should arrive Monday/Tuesday :D

I know that some people really enjoy searching bulk lots of Lincoln cents, but I found that it gave me a severe headache after an hour or so. It took me 4-1/2 years to search one $50 Mint bag of 1980 Phillies for errors and/or varieties.

Averaging only 3.287 cents searched per day? Either you have the attention span of a goldfish or need higher magnification Chris. :p;)

Yesterday I searched through 500 some dollars worth of change in about 2 hours, all for errors and silver. Suppose it just depends on how disciplined you are about going through it all.

Not really........228 "Y" clashes from the same dies.

I didn't search them every day. After each headache, I'd take a few weeks off......no glutton for punishment here! Of course, it would have helped at the time if I had 20 year-old eyes instead of 60 year-old eyes.

Until 7 years ago, I would search 2 - $500 boxes of half dollars almost every week. I was looking primarily for silver and known varieties. It would take me about an hour for each box.

On the other hand, that's a good way to turn 20-year-old eyes into 60-year-old eyes in a lot less than 40 years.

I think one of the big things that keeps me in the hobby is my extreme nearsightedness.
