1811 FRANCE 5 FRANCS SILVER COIN. WHAT VARIETY?

    i don't know which variety this coin is, i could not find photos online of all of the different varieties. this coin has a lettered edge. any opinions? IMG_0005.jpg IMG_0006.jpg

    I am gonna guess that W right of the date is for the Lille mint which would make this variety KM#694.16 metal-.900 silver, date-1811W, mintage-3,291,000
    grade/value VG-$15.00 F-$30.00 VF-$60.00 XF-$125.00

    Have you weighed that coin ? I ask because it sure doesn't look to be silver to me.

    no, i don't have a scale for coins. i don't know much about world coins, i have only researched mostly u.s. coins. i bought the coin in a group of great britain and canada coins from a very reputable coin dealer. i did not think that the coin looks silver either, but when i looked at some photos online of similar coins they had the same type of dark color look to them.

    Here is a Napolianic era 20 francs piece of mine. Its gold soooo the bronze would be fake. 5 francs would be a silver coin the size of a silver dollar.
