Oooops ... Yah, unfortunately when I fall off of the wagon, it's usually more of a dramatic dive with a slightly suspect landing, followed by several yards of skidding and tumbling, eventually comin' to a dusty and abrupt stop!!! eh-heh-heh ... this is the 2nd coin of a 5-coin splurge!!! IONIA, Ephesos, Æ19 Uncertain magistrate Late 2nd-early 1st century BC Diameter: 19 mm Weight: 3.71 grams Obverse: Bee in wreath Reverse: Stag standing right; palm tree in background, monogram (faint) to right Reference: SNG Copenhagen 299-303 Other: 12h … VF, nice green patina From the JMG Collection Once again, this coin is a bit rough ... but geesh, I just love coins that look like they've been livin' in a few togas during the past 2000 or so years, eh?
Oh, I also own a nice lil' AR version ... Yup, ya gotta love the animal coins!! (man, that never gets old) ... enjoy!! => "please" post any of your own Ionia Bee & Stag coins ... "or" feel free to post any of your random Ionia coins (they're all awesome!!)
Could have bought an AE of one well centered and in great shape for $35 but I opted for a an empress instead...Yet to find a bee/stag that cheap since. Lovely coins.
Wow!! => $35 ... geeesh, I would have jumped at that bargain!! *sigh* ... yah, I thought that my deal was sweet enough!!? ($75 bucks with auction-taxes and delivery) Mat => hey, please give me a heads-up when you spot a deal like that one!!
Man, that still blows me away that we can purchase 2000-2100 year old coins for that kinda price!! ... is it just me?!!
Let me see. I'll post all my Ionia Bee and Stag coins......... Umm, I can't seem to find 'em. Nice pick up
Well, I might as well post the rest of my Ionia coins ... that's all I got => hey, I realize that I've probably posted these babies within the last couple/few months, but due to my OCD, I seem to need to post all of 'em in a single thread (so please, merely smile and nod and refrain from yelling "Alzheimers-boy" at me, okay?) Thanks gang ...
