It's so hot gettin' out to see the ruins is miserable. But I have gotten to see most. The best so far was Ostia Attica. Huge. Went to eat at a restaurant called Diocleation's Bath, just next to the ruins. Fantastic. Too many people at the usual tiurist attractions (Spanish Steps, Trevi Fountain). Also went to Orbieto a former Etruscan hill town. Beautiful but extremely hot (39c).
It wasn't until I went to Mexico did I realize why the Maya abandoned their cities. It was crazy hot, like 116 hot, I would have left too.
That is an excellent example. Congratulations. For a bit more information on the type, see http://esty.ancients.info/CON/CONSTANTINOPOLIS.html
Warren- I can always count on your fine scholarly work in the particulars of coins. Your efforts in this hobby are admired and appreciated. Kudos to you my friend.
This thread showed such a beautiful design that I felt I needed this design. I am currently the high bidder of this one. I do plan on winning it.
Why? Super duper uper common coin and this one has issues. Looks like its from a bulk lot. Want one cheap but still nice, look at the one below. Decent dealer too. http://www.vcoins.com/en/stores/inc...oot_on_prow_heraclea_mint/163807/Default.aspx Dont like sandy patina?
