Hi I just wanted to ask if anyone knows of an 1886 Ty 2 Indian head proof with a re punched date like a snow 1 variety business strike..... is there such a coin out there or did I find a new variety ? Any info on rarity or value would be much appreciated.

I looked in the Cherrypickers Guide and Breens book and none are listed. So, you may have something. The expert in this would be Bill Fivaz.

Let me look at it and the one I seen and give you around about price, Are you a member anywhere to get it graded? Just asking i know Anavs you don't have to be a member.. Just fill out there sheet give them a call and they will tell you how much, this past week it was like 13$ a coin, as long as you did all the research , they would just verify the error and send it back on a slab..

you could do that or take it to your local coin dealer if you do business with them.mine sends mine in with his without any additional charge to ngc or pcgs.

@ Banks thanks for the replies I do Belong to PCGS but I didn't want to send it in until I am definitely sure it is something special.... so that's why I put it up here first so I can get some insight as to rarity or if it even is a proof.

I purchased it at an auction a while ago. the person had some junk coins mixed in with it and I just bought the whole lot , paid 50 $ for the lot sold off most of the others so I basically got it for free.

Did you ask the same question recently? If not, there is another thread on the same subject so you may want to check it out.

With all due respect, it's rather rude to state that this gentleman "ignored" you, especially since you're hoping he will provide his experienced opinion without compensation. This is not to say that he would not help you, but he is under no obligation to do as you ask in the time frame you think is fair. It is also possible that he has more important things to do and will at least respond when time allows. As the old saying goes... beggars can't be choosers.

Never assume that PCGS will attribute/certify just because a coin appears to be a variety.

@ Books , I did wait for his reply to multiple emails with pictures attached but to no avail, and I would think a man such as him would be delighted to see a new variety if it is such. So I am just puzzled why he would not respond.... much time has passed since I did Email him.

@Books , I am waiting to see if anyone has any such coin out there and maybe this is the place to best ask. I will submit it to PCGS as soon as I find out more about it if that is even possible. It may be the only one out there, and I still have not established if it is a proof or not. Also there are no coin dealers within range of where I live that I can ask or show it to.

I am only well-versed in Lincoln Cents, but your coin does look like a possible repunched date. Unfortunately, that's all I can really tell you about it.

The answer to if PCGS will attribute this variety is in the link I provided. As for the possibility of it being a new variety, Larry answered this in the last thread.

If you spend a little time searching, you can almost certainly verify this online.
