Maybe, or maybe I can purchase that metal detector and @paddyman98 can show me some great scouting spots and I can find something as cool or even cooler, yeah maybe one day
Possibly. I use the term Possibility but not Probability often. But I do believe you. Did your check your old fishing hole yet
It's a hard series to complete because of the dates from 1863 to 1872 which are mostly available as Proofs. The 1873 is only known in Proof. Frankly you are just as well staying away from it. A lot of collectors don't like small coins, and these are the smallest with respect to weight. The Type I Gold Dollar as a smaller diameter. I have the three types plus the 1851-O which I have always liked. I don't intend to buy any more.
every one of em escaped me this month, auctions just horrible, but I still have one on GC closing this weekend I think I stand a good chance at
My father's coin collection has/had (it's been split between my father and I. I got an 1862 silver and 3 of the copper mix. (1865, 1868, and an 1874). My family is split between the west coast and the east coast. I married an North Carolina girl and my parents, and my brother and sisters live in California. That doesn't give me a chance to see what coins my brother got. I like to look at coins and am lucky enough to have the resources to get what I want. I did get a chance to purchase many half dollars about a year ago. I'm still trying to figure out if the money I paid for that collection is worth it. I am now trying to start a collection of Mercury Dimes. Dad had a bunch of them, and I am trying to figure out how to start a collection on them. Many of the coins I got were quite nice. I need some guidance on the best way to start. I heard mention of "Gray Sheets" or something like that. I live in a remote corner of a tobacco field and most of my neighbors only communicate on the amount of tobacco they will grow this year. I did get in a conversation about turkeys and turkey houses. Anyway, any good books about Mercury Dimes? I do have a bunch of Red Books that I got in an auction. I think I paid about $2 for each book. Most of these farmers only read seed catalogs or labels on canned goods. Anyway, I would appreciate any help you can give. Oh, yeah, my other hobby is Zane Gray and Louie L'Amour books. I went to one auction, and bought a bunch of coins with one of their novels. All my best to you guys.
