Got these for my 20th/21st century album total cost $28 traded a junk silver 64 Kennedy and $9 for a bu traded a junk silver 64 quarter for a 1959d bu + #5 these junk silvers came from my album so i used them to help me upgrade also got a uncirculated 1974 ike a bu 40% bi half and bu 40% bi quarter (my album dosent specify silver or clad so im going with silver because they look nicer) and a bu 2009 Kennedy for the album cus it was better then the roll found 2010 that was in my album total was 28.25 all i had was $28 so he dropped it to $28
16.00 for a bu JFK seems high. I bought a whole roll of them for $5.00 over spot. They are pretty common.
oh well it realy only cost me 9 so im happy ebay completed price is between $11 and $14 plus he always rounds the prices down for me ect
I have come to the conclusion in this hobby, that if I want something I always have to pay up to get it. If I am not really in the market for something, then dealers are practically giving it away. I now try to be patient and let coins come to me, so to speak.
If there were a coin collecting quote of the week your statement would capture that honor in my opinion. Well said
Even in a retail shop, with 90% Kennedys and late date silver quarters, the difference between junk and generic "BU" should not be much. While it may be a nice coin, $16+ for the 64 50C is very high. At $8.50+ the 59-D 25C was not as bad, but still rather pricey. Your trades plus $5 for both would have been much more reasonable. Keep in mind that people are likely no beating down his door to pay high retail for such common material, so next time try to use this to your advantage.
total 36.50 -5.75 for the kennedy -2.30 for the quarter total after trade up 28.45 so thats minus another .45 because i paid 28 i dont think i did bad
My numbers were based on melt plus your quoted additional payment. 50C-$7.10 (est) + $9.00 25C-$3.55 (est) + $5.00 Regardless... however you figure the end prices, the point still stands that you paid strong retail, but if you're happy, so be it.
i am not trying to diss your coins but i think this was a good deal for the other guy not you your in high retail into this stuff and to boot you didnt get anything that great all of these coins are just eghhh very common generic pieces that are in every collection and owned by every collector of us coins !! this is my opinion though i think if you just bought all these coins on ebay i think you would have been better off and would have paid less and then sold the junk later !!
This is not so yes some sell for higher you just have to invest time to hunt through listings to get the goods i send loads of hours look for thing on ebay ever week
That may be correct, but you can't exactly trade coins on ebay like the OP did with the shop. If he enjoys the purchase, I don't see anything wrong with what he did. And for the record, I don't have any proof bicentennials in my collection, so these aren't coins found in "every collection of every collector", as you said. Even if they were, there is nothing wrong with that.

thats is y you sell your junk put the money towards the new !!! i didnt say he shouldnt enjoy them read my first post all i said was money wise it wasnt the best deal !!! and many have bicentennial proofs in thier collect not all but most and i am sure all dealers do have them available !!
its the only coin shop within 40 miles of me and i did a week of research before hand. i realy wanted these for my album and didnt want to wait any longer so i took the 2 mile walk to the store and stayed 35 minutes after closing
He did put his money towards the new. "Trading" the coins in that went towards the purchase is the same as selling junk coins on ebay, although at a coin shop, there are no shipping charges or ebay fees to deal with.
