Hi all, I have this 1976 Ike Dollar. It is very shiny, weighs 22.5g, and has no mint mark. The pictures are not the best due to the lighting, but the color is silver and the rim looks like it is copper and silver. Not sure why it's that shiny, the other Ike Dollars I have look nothing like it. Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks !
It looks Cleaned to me, which explains its thin lines throughout the reverse. It was probably polished up with a polishing cloth. The rim is normal for all Copper-Nickel clad coins, and yes the brown color is copper, but no silver in there unfortunately. Good for ya that you have one--- I lost my specimen in my History classroom.
Thanks for replying. So, that's what cleaned and polished coins look like lol. That sucks that you lost yours. If it makes you feel better, mine is worthless lol.
No, not worthless. Your coin is worth $1.00, unless you sell it at a flea market like I do. Then it could be worth as much as $2.00, lol. I usually pick up a few Ikes at the local bank whenever they have them... last time they had over fifty.
