    Hi there,
I have this coin that appears to be very old. I am not sure what it is, and I cannot find it anywhere. It maybe an Italian Florin but the coin is marked .999 on the bottom right. Would ancient coins be marked .999? My thoughts are no, so what is this? I have looked the coin over very carefully and compared it to other Italian Florin coins.... none are an exact match. This coin is encased in a 18k solid gold bezel. What coin is this? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

First, this is definitely not ancient.

I believe it is a Jeweller's copy (probably a cast) of a medieval Italian Florin.

I don't think ancient coins have the .999 marking. Correct me if im wrong

First, this, no matter what, isn't ancient.

Second, I don't think so, but it is possible

I would agree its a jewelers copy. Details too mushy, and authentic pieces never marked .999, (and btw they wer not .999 gold).
